The best month for Everest base camp trek is March, April, May, September, October and November. The months of autumn and spring are favorable for Gokyo Cho la pass trek, Gokyo lake trek, and many other trekking in Everest region due to the pleasant weather and moderate temperature.
Spring
Spring (March, April, May) is the best season of the year. As soon as the cold winter ends, The ebc trekking routes fascinated with blooming rhododendron. We can enjoy the great mountain views and diverse flora and fauna in this season. Trekking in early March remain less crowdy but higher regions like Everest base camp, Gorekshep, Lobuche and Dingboche persist snow. We may face snowfall and get a chance to play with snow. Sunny days, clear view of mountains and greenery worth it. April is always the best month to explore flowers and beauty of Himalaya. Late May is not preferred due to the high chance of heavy rainfall. The monsoon rain ruins the trek with foggy weather and rainy days in late May.
Autumn (fall)
Autumn (September, October, November) is also the best time to trek to Everest base camp. Early September mostly remains rainy due to late monsoon. The crowdy trekking routes in October adds joy and competition for accommodation. There should be pre-booking to get good rooms in peak season. The trekking can be extended to mid-December, but we may experience very low temperatures after November.
Summer
Summer (June, July August) is not considered as best time to trek to Everest cause the weather endure very bad with cloudy sky, foggy mountains and heavy rainfall. The EBC trekking routes with rain cover will be very difficult to compete. It is better to avoid summer season for the trek in Khumbu region. The uncertain flood, cancellation of Lukla flight are other risks of summer.
Winter
Winter (December, January, February) season is rarely chosen for Everest base camp trek due to the lowest temperature. The cloudy weather, extremely low temperature, closed tea houses in higher altitude makes trekking hard in winter.
